How to See from God’s Perspective!

It’s all about perspective!

Have you ever noticed that if you are too far away from an object it’s very hard to see the details, and that when you stand too close to something, your view is also distorted because you can’t see the whole picture?

This is what happens to us when we view our problems, issues, short-comings, and circumstances from any perspective other than God’s. God’s perspective is the only position that will allow us to “see” clearly enough to have the right attitude, heart, and mind to be able to make the right decisions and to follow God’s will for our lives.

The fact is that God never moves. We are the ones who move. That movement – away from God – causes us to lose perspective. When we are so far from Him we are unable to hear from Him, and we lack the ability to see the direction He is asking us to go.

Sometimes, we can also move in the opposite direction, meaning we try to grab control right out of God’s hands. We become so consumed in trying to fix something or control it in our own might, that we overstep our bounds. Because God is a gentleman, He allows us to have our free will and watches patiently, with hope that we will turn our burdens over to Him so He can do work in our lives and in the lives of others around us. He will never force us to do what He wants, but longs for us to seek Him and make Him Lord in our lives. When we make Him Lord, we also agree to submit to His authority and allow Him to act on our behalf with the understanding and belief that He has the best perspective of the situations and circumstances in our lives.

Lamentations 3:58You have taken up my cause, O Lord; you have redeemed my life.”

Matthew 6:8 “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

Isaiah 55:8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

The next time you feel overwhelmed about a situation, ask God if you are standing in the right place to see things from His perspective. Be willing to move when He asks you to so that you are in the best position for Him to act. Instead of looking AT your problem, try looking up TO Him!
