Jesus is the epitome of the example of how we should approach life. During the most frightening moments of his own life, Jesus showed us that it is natural to fear. However, he serves as the perfect model of how we should approach fear and how we can overcome it!
Walking toward fear activates our faith
When Jesus knew he was going to die on the cross, he could have hidden. He was fully aware that His time on earth was limited. However, instead of going into hiding, He met his captors head on. But first, he prayed. As we pray amidst our fears, our faith is activated and it enables us to face life’s most difficult moments knowing without a doubt that God is with us and will never leave our sides.
We already have what we need
God does not allow us to walk though life alone. He also does not expect us to head into scary situations without help. His provision is the Holy Spirit, and we already have the faith and strength we need if He is our guide.
In 2 Timothy 1:7, He promises that the Spirit of God does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. We have power to ward off the snare of the enemy when we “pit on” the suit of armor provided in Ephesians 6:10. God reminds us that our fight is a spiritual one and requires the proper equipment to be effective. The belt of truth is given to us so that we are reminded of the importance of truth in all we say and do. Since Satan is the father of lies, it is important that we follow God, the father of truth. We are given the breastplate of righteousness, which is a shield covered with God’s righteousness so that the blows from the enemy are unable to penetrate to our hearts. We are given the shield of faith, which renders Satan’s arrows of doubt totally useless and ineffective. The helmet of salvation is protection for our minds so that we are able to discern between spiritual truth and deception. The sword of the Spirit is our offensive weapon to wield whenever we need to cut the enemies lies with the power and holiness of God’s Word. Finally, we are to walk in the gospel of peace as we march into battle and face our fears. We need to watch the obstacles the enemy places in our path by walking in the path God has set for us all. God has provided us with these tools, but it is up to us to put it on!
Remember to SPEAK GOD’S WORD over your life. It is a reminder to you and to the enemy that you are fully aware of where your help comes from and that nothing the enemy sends your way will cause you to stumble!
