ARCA and ASN – Good to go for 2016 and Beyond

American Sports Network (ASN), the Sinclair Networks Group‘s sports division, and the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) have announced a multiple-year agreement that brings the excitement of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards events to short track racing fans in the United States. Sinclair Networks’ website describes their operation as “one of the largest and most diversified television broadcasting companies in the country. Sinclair owns and operates, programs or provides sales services to more television stations than anyone and has affiliations with all the major networks. In addition, Sinclair is the leading local news provider in the country, as well as a producer of sports content. Sinclair owns a multicast network, four radio stations and a cable network. Sinclair’s broadcast content is delivered via multiple-platforms, including over-the-air, multi-channel video program distributors, and digital platforms.  Sinclair, either directly or through its venture subsidiaries, makes equity investments in strategic companies. Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. was founded in 1986, went public in 1995 and is traded on the NASDAQ Global Select Market under the ticker symbol SBGI.”(1)

The announced live broadcast schedule for 2016 includes these events:

  • May 22 – Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care from Toledo (Ohio) Speedway
  • June 19 – Madison ARCA 200, Madison International Speedway – Oregon, WI
  • June 26 – Winchester ARCA 200, Winchester Speedway – Winchester, Ind.
  • August 6 – Berlin ARCA 200, Berlin Raceway – Marne, MI
  • August 21 – Allen Crowe 100, Illinois State Fairgrounds – Springfield, IL

In addition, ASN plans to provide delayed-broadcast coverage for these events:

  • April 9 – Music City 200, Fairgrounds Speedway – Nashville, TN (Broadcast date June 2)
  • April 24 – Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200, Salem (Ind.) Speedway (Broadcast date June 9)
  • September 4 – Southern Illinois 100, DuQuoin State Fairgrounds – DuQuoin, IL (Broadcast date TBA)
  • September 10 – ARCA Fall Classic 200, Salem Speedway – Salem, IN (Broadcast date TBA)

In its press release announcing the ASN agreement, Mark Gundrum, ARCA vice president for Business Development and Corporate Partnerships, commented “We are pleased to provide additional exposure of the ARCA Racing Series on American Sports Network,” said Mark Gundrum, ARCA vice president for Business Development and Corporate Partnerships. “This is a great opportunity for the teams, sponsors and fans of the series. The ARCA short track race events are some of the best each year, and we’re excited to bring the side-by-side action to the American Sports Networks viewers.”(2)
