God’s Exchange Policy

Have you ever purchased a shirt or a pair of pants that didn’t fit right? A quick review of the purchase receipt will often provide important information about the store’s exchange policy. Did you know God also has an exchange policy? It is written clearly on His purchase receipt – the wooden cross!

When Jesus died on the cross, He did so in order to provide a ransom for our sinful nature. Our sins caused a permanent separation from God. The only thing that would enable us to be in right relationship with Him was a perfect, fully-God, fully-man sacrifice that would redeem the human race and allow us to once again freely approach the throne of God. That sacrifice is Jesus.

Now, instead of living with shame, we can exchange it for approval. We can exchange despair for hope, and hate for love. Every wrong, negative thought, feeling, action, or belief can be exchanged for God’s perfect replacement.

The next time you experience hurt, ask God about his exchange policy. All you have to do is approach Him and ask Him to be the Lord of your Life. This means He will always take your burdens, and replace it with His peace. Remember, when you exchange a shirt or a pair of pants, you leave it at the store and you take the new item home. That is the same with everything you leave with God. You take the new thought, belief, and action and apply it in your life. You no longer keep the old stuff because you already given it to God.

5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
